Gishwati Mukura National Park

This national park is actually a combination of two parks, establishing a wildlife corridor linking Gishwati Forest to Mukura Forest, and down to Nyungwe Forest. As an official national park, it enjoys a protected status and is currently part of an ambitious landscape restoration programme to increase the number of trees, improve soil fertility, stabilise slopes and regulate stream flow. Activities in the park include a guided nature hike, guided chimp and monkey tracking, birdwatching and a visit to the waterfalls.
